Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSA) manufactures bakkies and commercial trucks at its plant in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape. As one of the region’s leading automotive manufacturers, Isuzu continues to expand local production capacity to meet growing demand for its D-Max bakkies and N- and F-Series trucks across the domestic and export markets.
The Eastern Cape plant has been manufacturing vehicles in South Africa for more than six decades, building a reputation for reliability that has made Isuzu one of the top-selling bakkie brands in the country and across the wider African market.

Expanding Local Production
IMSA has continued to invest in expanding its Eastern Cape manufacturing footprint, adding capacity for new vehicle derivatives and increasing the local content of components sourced from South African suppliers. This has helped strengthen the broader automotive component manufacturing sector in the province.
The plant also serves as an export base, shipping commercial vehicles manufactured in South Africa to markets across the rest of the African continent, reinforcing the country’s position as a regional hub for automotive manufacturing.
